Throughout these Terms:

2. SERVICES COVERED BY THESE TERMS

These Terms apply only to the services available at launch.

Those services are:

  • NARRify Diagnostic
  • NARRify Momentum

The NARRify Diagnostic is our standalone developmental manuscript analysis.

NARRify Momentum is our monthly subscription service providing ongoing developmental support using the NARRify methodology.

The description, current price, principal features and delivery period for each service are shown on the relevant sales page before purchase.

3. OUR GUIDING PRINCIPLES

Writing Trees exists to help writers better understand their work.

Our services are developmental and framework-led.

We use structured methodologies developed by Writing Trees to analyse narrative, structure, communication and developmental opportunities.

Analytical technologies, including artificial intelligence, may assist with identifying patterns, organising observations and supporting our methodology.

Technology supports our work. It does not replace professional judgement.

Every customer report is reviewed by a member of the Writing Trees team before it is released.

The final report is subject to human review and is never released as a wholly automated output.

Information about how submitted documents are handled, including any relevant technology providers, is explained in our Privacy Notice.

We do not use customer manuscripts or reports to train public or general-purpose artificial intelligence models.

We will not use a customer’s manuscript or report output for demonstration, research or marketing purposes without the customer’s prior permission. Any approved use will not disclose the underlying submission unless the customer has expressly agreed otherwise.

4. NARRify DIAGNOSTIC

The NARRify Diagnostic provides a structured developmental analysis of your submitted work.

It is designed to help you better understand:

  • narrative structure;
  • strengths;
  • developmental priorities;
  • opportunities for revision; and
  • areas for further consideration.

The service provides developmental and interpretive analysis.

Observations and recommendations involve professional judgement.

Different readers or professionals may reasonably reach different interpretations.

The NARRify Diagnostic is not:

  • proofreading;
  • copy editing;
  • line editing;
  • ghostwriting;
  • publishing representation;
  • literary agency services;
  • legal advice;
  • academic marking; or
  • a guarantee of publication, representation, commercial success, assessment results or any other outcome.

Report layout and length may vary according to the nature, length and complexity of the submitted work.

Any variation will not remove the core analysis described on the service page at the time of purchase.

The completed report represents completion of the purchased service.

Implementation of recommendations, revision work and any resulting outcome remain your responsibility.

5. NARRify MOMENTUM

NARRify Momentum is the monthly subscription version of the NARRify Diagnostic.

It is intended for writers seeking continuing developmental feedback and progress tracking.

Each billing period includes:

  • one full NARRify Momentum report;
  • up to two Micro Reports;
  • developmental comparison with previous submissions where appropriate; and
  • ongoing framework-led analysis.

Each monthly full submission may contain up to 20,000 words.

To enable meaningful comparison with previous work, submissions should normally retain at least 5,000 words from the previous version.

If a submission exceeds the monthly limit, we may ask you to reduce or divide it.

The delivery period begins once we receive an eligible, complete and accessible submission.

6. MICRO REPORTS

Each active NARRify Momentum subscription includes up to two Micro Reports during each billing period.

A Micro Report provides focused developmental observations on a specific revision, extract or question.

It is not intended to replace a full NARRify Diagnostic.

Each Micro Report request may contain up to 20,000 words.

Micro Reports must be requested during the billing period in which they are included.

We aim to deliver each Micro Report within three Working Days after confirming receipt of an eligible submission.

Unused Micro Reports:

  • expire at the end of the billing period;
  • do not carry forward; and
  • have no cash value.

7. PLACING AN ORDER

Service descriptions and current prices appear on the relevant sales page.

Please check your order carefully before making payment.

Submitting payment constitutes an offer to purchase the selected service.

An automated payment receipt confirms that payment has been processed but does not, by itself, mean that your order has been accepted.

A contract is formed only when Writing Trees sends an Order Confirmation.

The Order Confirmation will include or attach a copy of the Terms accepted when you placed your order in a format that you can save and retain.

We may decline an order where we cannot safely, lawfully or reasonably provide the service.

If payment has already been taken for a declined order, we will refund it in accordance with these Terms.

8. PRICES AND PAYMENT

The price displayed at checkout is the total price payable.

Any applicable taxes will be included or clearly identified before payment.

From time to time we may offer promotional or introductory pricing. Any such offer applies only where clearly stated before purchase.

Payment is processed securely through the payment provider identified at checkout.

Writing Trees does not receive or store your complete payment-card details where these are processed by the payment provider.

No additional payment will be taken without your agreement.

Work normally begins after:

  • successful payment;
  • acceptance of your order; and
  • receipt of an eligible, accessible submission.

Failed or reversed payments may delay or suspend the service.

9. SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

The standalone NARRify Diagnostic has no standard manuscript word limit, subject to the following submission requirements.

Files submitted for analysis must:

  • contain text only;
  • be no larger than 5 MB per file;
  • be complete and ready for review;
  • be submitted using a method approved by Writing Trees; and
  • be accessible without password or permission issues.

Exceptionally long, complex or technically inaccessible submissions may require additional delivery time.

If this applies, we will contact you promptly with a revised estimated delivery date.

If substantive analysis has not yet begun and the revised delivery date is not acceptable, you may cancel the order for a full refund.

The delivery period begins only after we receive an eligible, complete and accessible submission.

10. YOUR SUBMISSION RESPONSIBILITIES

You must:

  • be at least 18 years old to purchase a service or submit material for analysis;
  • provide accurate contact and order information;
  • ensure you own the submitted material or have authority to submit it;
  • retain your own backup of every submitted document;
  • remove unnecessary personal information about other people wherever reasonably possible;
  • obtain any permission needed to submit confidential or third-party material;
  • comply with applicable academic, professional and legal obligations;
  • ensure that submitted files do not contain malware or malicious code; and
  • review the completed report before acting upon its observations or recommendations.

You must not submit material that is:

  • unlawful;
  • defamatory;
  • infringing;
  • malicious;
  • submitted without authority; or
  • likely to create a material security risk.

We may refuse material that does not meet these requirements.

Where an order is refused before substantive work has begun, any payment received will normally be refunded in full.

Where substantive work has already begun and the refusal results from a material breach of these requirements, we may make a fair and proportionate deduction for work properly completed where permitted by law.

11. CHANGES AFTER SUBMISSION

Analysis will be based on the version of the document accepted for review.

If you provide a replacement or materially revised document after analysis has begun, we may:

  • treat it as a new submission;
  • revise the delivery timetable; or
  • recommend an appropriate additional service.

We will explain any effect on delivery or price before proceeding.

12. DELIVERY

Once payment has been successfully received and we have accepted an eligible, complete and accessible submission, we aim to deliver the applicable report within three Working Days.

Unless your Order Confirmation states otherwise, the first Working Day begins on the next Working Day after receipt of your complete submission.

Delivery may be delayed where:

  • a file cannot be opened or accessed;
  • an incorrect or incomplete file has been supplied;
  • essential information is missing;
  • a Momentum or Micro Report submission exceeds the applicable limit;
  • you request a change after submission;
  • you do not respond to a reasonable request for information; or
  • an event outside our reasonable control occurs.

If a material delay arises, we will contact you promptly, explain the reason and provide a revised estimated delivery date.

We will not use this clause to create an indefinite delivery period.

13. YOUR RIGHT TO CANCEL

If you are a consumer purchasing online, you normally have the right to cancel your contract within 14 days from the day after it is formed without giving a reason.

You may cancel by:

You are not required to use the Model Cancellation Form.

Where you ask us to begin providing the service during the 14-day cancellation period and later cancel before the service has been completed, we may charge a reasonable amount for work already carried out, provided that:

  • we supplied the legally required cancellation information; and
  • you expressly requested early performance.

If the service has been fully completed during the cancellation period, your cancellation right ends only where:

  • you expressly requested us to begin during that period; and
  • you acknowledged that your cancellation right would end once the service had been fully performed.

Uploading a manuscript does not, by itself, waive your cancellation rights.

Where a refund is due, we will make it without undue delay and no later than 14 days after the day on which you inform us of your cancellation. We will use the original payment method unless you expressly agree otherwise, and we will not charge you a fee for the refund.

14. EARLY PERFORMANCE REQUEST

Where Writing Trees begins work before the statutory cancellation period has expired, checkout will require a separate, unticked confirmation similar to the following:

This confirmation will never be pre-selected.

15. NARRify MOMENTUM SUBSCRIPTION

NARRify Momentum renews automatically each month until cancelled.

The subscription price and billing frequency are displayed before purchase.

There is no minimum subscription period.

Each successful monthly payment provides access to the services described in Clauses 5 and 6 for that billing period.

You may cancel:

Cancellation prevents future renewal payments.

Unless a statutory cancellation or refund right applies, your subscription remains active until the end of the current billing period.

Unused monthly entitlements expire at the end of each billing period and do not carry forward.

If a renewal payment fails, we may suspend subscription services until payment has been successfully processed.

If subscription prices change, we will give reasonable advance notice before the next renewal date.

We may improve NARRify Momentum over time but will not materially reduce the core features of a billing period that has already been paid for.

16. OWNERSHIP AND PERMITTED USE

You retain ownership of your manuscript and all original material you submit.

Submitting material to Writing Trees does not transfer ownership to us.

Writing Trees retains ownership of its:

  • methodologies;
  • analytical frameworks;
  • report structures;
  • prompts;
  • templates;
  • scoring systems;
  • branding;
  • report format; and
  • associated intellectual property.

Payment does not transfer ownership of our methodology or proprietary systems.

You receive a personal, non-exclusive right to use your completed report for your own development and revision.

You may share your report privately with advisers, editors, teachers, collaborators, publishers, agents or other trusted representatives.

You must not:

  • sell or commercially exploit the report;
  • publish it as your own commercial product;
  • reproduce our methodology; or
  • use it to recreate or reverse-engineer Writing Trees’ proprietary frameworks.

Nothing in these Terms prevents you from using the recommendations to revise and develop your own work.

17. CONFIDENTIALITY AND DOCUMENT HANDLING

We treat submitted manuscripts and unpublished documents as confidential.

Access is limited to people and approved service providers who reasonably require access to provide the service, operate approved systems, comply with legal obligations or establish, exercise or defend legal rights.

Further information about:

  • storage;
  • service providers;
  • security;
  • international transfers;
  • retention periods; and
  • your privacy rights

is contained in our Privacy Notice.

Although we use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, no online system can be guaranteed completely secure.

18. ACADEMIC INTEGRITY

Our services are intended to support understanding, learning and development.

They must not be used to:

  • misrepresent authorship;
  • facilitate plagiarism;
  • evade academic rules; or
  • submit Writing Trees’ reports as assessed work.

Customers remain responsible for complying with the requirements of their school, college, university, employer, publisher or professional body.

The NARRify Diagnostic is not an academic marking service.

19. LIMITS OF THE SERVICE

The NARRify Diagnostic and NARRify Momentum are developmental services designed to support understanding, analysis and informed revision.

We do not guarantee:

  • publication;
  • literary representation;
  • assessment or examination results;
  • funding;
  • commercial performance;
  • audience response;
  • acceptance by a publisher, employer or institution; or
  • any particular creative or professional outcome.

The report represents professional developmental judgement using the Writing Trees methodology.

You remain responsible for:

  • deciding whether and how to implement any recommendations;
  • independently checking factual, legal, academic, financial, medical or other specialist matters where appropriate; and
  • all decisions made following receipt of the report.

A difference of professional opinion does not, by itself, demonstrate that the service has been performed incorrectly.

20. IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG

We will provide our services with reasonable care and skill.

If you believe that your service has not been provided as described, please contact us promptly at:

info@writingtrees.co.uk

Please include:

  • your name;
  • your order number, where available; and
  • a clear explanation of the issue.

Where appropriate, we may:

  • correct or repeat the affected part of the service within a reasonable time; or
  • provide an appropriate refund or price reduction where re-performance is impossible, cannot be completed within a reasonable time or would cause significant inconvenience.

Nothing in these Terms limits your statutory consumer rights.

21. REFUNDS

Refunds may be available where:

  • you validly exercise a statutory cancellation right;
  • Writing Trees declines your order;
  • we cannot reasonably provide the purchased service;
  • a significant delivery issue cannot reasonably be resolved;
  • the service has not been provided with reasonable care and skill and an appropriate remedy includes a refund or price reduction; or
  • these Terms specifically provide for a refund.

Refunds will normally be made using the original payment method.

A change of mind after a service has been fully completed does not automatically create a refund entitlement where you expressly requested early performance and acknowledged the loss of your cancellation rights upon completion.

Nothing in these Terms removes any refund or remedy available under applicable consumer law.

22. OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO YOU

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for:

  • death or personal injury caused by negligence;
  • fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
  • breach of statutory consumer rights; or
  • any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

If you are a consumer, we are responsible for foreseeable loss or damage resulting from our breach of these Terms or our failure to use reasonable care and skill.

We are not responsible for:

  • loss that was not reasonably foreseeable;
  • loss resulting from inaccurate, incomplete or unauthorised material supplied by you;
  • decisions taken without obtaining appropriate specialist advice where required; or
  • outcomes that our services do not promise to achieve.

Where you purchase our services wholly or mainly for business purposes, we are not liable for:

  • loss of profit;
  • loss of revenue;
  • loss of opportunity; or
  • indirect or consequential business loss,

except where such liability cannot lawfully be excluded.

Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights.

23. EVENTS OUTSIDE OUR REASONABLE CONTROL

We are not responsible for delays caused by events outside our reasonable control.

Examples include:

  • serious technical failures;
  • internet or utility disruption;
  • natural disasters;
  • industrial action;
  • government action;
  • illness; or
  • failure of essential third-party systems.

This clause does not excuse ordinary workload pressures or poor planning.

If such an event materially affects delivery, we will:

  • notify you as soon as reasonably possible;
  • explain the likely impact; and
  • take reasonable steps to minimise the delay.

If a substantial delay continues before completion of the service, you may contact us to discuss cancellation of the affected order and any appropriate refund for services not yet provided.

24. SUSPENSION OR TERMINATION

We may suspend or terminate a service where:

  • payment fails or is reversed;
  • you materially breach these Terms;
  • submitted material is unlawful, unsafe or submitted without authority;
  • continuing the service would breach applicable law;
  • you abuse our staff or systems; or
  • the service cannot reasonably be provided.

Where reasonably possible, we will explain the reason before taking action.

If we terminate an accepted order for reasons within our control, we will provide an appropriate refund for any part of the service not supplied.

Where termination results from your material breach of these Terms, we may make a fair and proportionate deduction for work properly completed where permitted by law.

25. COMPLAINTS

We want to resolve concerns fairly, professionally and promptly.

Please send complaints to:

info@writingtrees.co.uk

Please include:

  • your name;
  • your order number (where available); and
  • a description of the issue.

We will acknowledge your complaint and aim to provide a substantive response within a reasonable period.

26. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS

The version of these Terms accepted when you place an order governs that order.

Updated versions apply only to future purchases from their stated Effective Date.

Changes will not retrospectively remove rights that have already arisen.

For NARRify Momentum subscriptions, we will provide reasonable advance notice of any material change affecting a future billing period.

We will not materially reduce paid features within a billing period that has already been paid for.

27. GOVERNING LAW

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not remove any mandatory protections available under the law that would otherwise apply to you.

The courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction, subject to any right you may have as a consumer to bring proceedings in another court where applicable law permits.

Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory consumer rights.

28. GENERAL

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect.

If we delay enforcing any provision, this does not permanently waive our right to enforce it later.

Only you and Writing Trees Ltd have rights under this contract.

Headings are included for convenience and do not affect interpretation.

Where these Terms are translated, the English-language version will prevail to the extent permitted by law.
